SHOW REPORT OF THE BRITISH BORDER.F.C.C. OPEN & INTERNATIONAL SHOW held at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood on 20th & 21st. November 2004 Judges: T. Foster, C. Hook, B. Little, G. Mckinlay, R. Morgan, J. Sankey, E. Siviter.
The British Border Fancy Canary Club’ International and Club Show staged at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood attracted a total entry of 1200 birds which was 100 up on last year’s show. There was plenty of enthusiasm and support for the International Competition with full teams entered from Scotland, England, and Wales, also one exhibitor from Northern Ireland. England won the competition with 381 points with Scotland second with 302 points and Wales Third with 198 Points. The attendance at the show was very high with visitors from all parts of England, Scotland, Wales and both Northern and Southern Ireland. There were also quite a few overseas visitors from Europe. The quality and standard of the birds was very high, as usual, with previous best in show winners not being in the cards. The Novice Section was very well supported with just over 450 birds entered and it was not dominated by any one person. G Burgess and B Underwood from Northern Ireland entered very strong teams. The Best Border in show award was won by Tom Brown with a unflighted green variegated yellow hen which also won best Champion and Best Champion Green Variegated. The Second Best Champion in show went to Phil Warne with an unflighted green variegated yellow cock. Third Best Champion was also one of Phil Warne’s birds a self green yellow hen which was also best green in show. Fourth Best Champion also Phil Warne with an unflighted green three parts dark buff cock which was also Best ¾ Dark in Show. Fifth Best Champion also Phil Warne with an unflighted clear yellow hen. This was also Best Champion clear in Show. Sixth Best Champion was Phil Warne with a unflighted clear yellow cock. Seventh Best Champion was Mark Lowry with a flighted green variegated buff hen. Best Champion White or Allied was won by Phil Warne with an unflighted variegated white hen. Best Champion Cinnamon was won by Keith Wadkin with a self cinnamon yellow hen. Best Champion Heavily Variegated was won by B& P Heathcote Best Champion Cinnamon Variegated was also won by B & P Heathcote The Novice Section was won by J Zerk with a very nice flighted green variegated buff hen, which also won Best Novice Green Variegated. The Second Best Novice in show went to Graham Burgess with a flighted green variegated buff cock. Third Best Novice in show was E Glancy with an unflighted green variegated yellow cock. Fourth Best Novice with a heavily variegated buff hen was Billy Netherton, which also won Best Novice Heavily Variegated. The Fifth Best Novice was Kevin Hill with an unflighted self green yellow hen which also Best Novice Green. The Sixth Best Novice was an unflighted self green yellow cock belonging to Brian Underwood. The Seventh Best Novice was won by Graham Burgess with an unflighted clear yellow cock which was also Best Novice Clear or Ticked. Best Novice ¾ Dark was won by E Glancy with a green 3/4 dark yellow hen. Best Novice White or Allied was won by M A Spare with an unflighted variegated white cock. Best Novice Cinnamon Variegated was won by I M Southgate with a cinnamon variegated yellow hen.
