SHOW REPORT OF THE BRITISH BORDER.F.C.C.
BRIAN RIGBY MEMORIAL & CLUB SHOW
held at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood on 18th & 29th November 2006
Judges: R. Bennett, G. Burrows, T. Flannigan, R. Parry, B. Watts.
The British Border Fancy Canary Club's Brian Rigby Memorial and Club Show
staged at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood attracted a total entry of 840 birds. This
was 80 birds down on last years entry. However, this was the second largest all
Border show of the year. This was quite pleasing since a lot of breeders this
year had a poor breeding season.
The show was again held under a General Licence from D.E.F.R.A. but with less
constraints from last years requirements.
The Premier Section was again trialled and had an entry of 121 birds. The
Barnett & Brown partnership entered a very strong team of 34 birds. Also Tim
Ward entered a very nice team of birds in this section. Some exhibitors are
still missing the point in what we are trying to achieve, however, with the more
successful exhibitors showing in this section, this is giving the other
Champions a better chance of obtaining a special or a Red ticket, as can be
proven in the Champion winners list below, and surely this will encourage more
people to show their birds.
The attendance at the show was up on last year with visitors again coming
from all parts of England, Scotland, Wales and both Northern and Southern
Ireland. There were also quite a few overseas visitors from Europe and the USA.
We would like to thank all exhibitors and visitors for their continued
support and help at the show, without their support the show would not have been
as successful as it was.
The quality and standard of the birds was very high, as usual with many good
birds not being in the cards.
